I enjoyed this book because it serves as a good review of the negative aspects of fracking, and because it also provides a decent background on the process of high-pressure, high-volume horizontal hydraulic fracturing (the technical name for the process used to extract natural gas from shale). That said, the entire work was a glaringly obvious example of an anti-fracking propaganda book. Many passages targeted emotional responses, and in order to get anything out of the book, it is important to constantly keep that in mind. If you are looking for a book that provides an in-depth technical overview of the fracking process, this one is not for you. It is dominated by stories about how people have been affected by fracking. However, if that is what you want, look no further. I wanted something in between the two extremes, and was moderately satisfied with the book as a whole. |

IntroductionWelcome to the Book Blog, where I'll post quick reviews on the books that I've finished reading. Some of the early reviews are a bit brief, but as I slowly started to have the idea for a book blog, I tried to make my comments more substantial. Archives
