Hello and Welcome!
If you've stumbled across this page, you are either a) lost or b) wishing to find out more about Carbo Telluris. I’m going to assume that you fall into category B and continue from there.
My name is Alex Muir. I’m originally from Brunswick Ohio, but throughout my college experience I've been all over the place. I've worked on the east and west sides of Cleveland, OH, and I spent last summer working in Boston, MA. I currently live in Lakewood, OH, and am completing my fourth and final co-op semester. When fall rolls around, I'll be back in Cincinnati for two semesters to finish up my Master's in Environmental Engineering. This will complement my undergraduate degree, which is in Chemical Engineering. While I am not in the classroom (and not doing homework - that's the one that gets you), I enjoy doing a wide range of other things. One of my favorite things to do is go hiking. Below, you’ll see three of my favorite pictures from three of my favorite hikes. These have been updated based upon hikes I've gone on in Boston, but I still love hiking in the Cleveland area.

Another thing you should know about me is that I love music. The only kind of music I don’t like (sorry in advance), is metal core, death metal, or whatever the technical term is for it. While I definitely have a preference (rock, EDM, indie), I've continually exposed myself to just about everything.
My combined Bachelor's and Master's degrees tie into some of my primary goals while I am at the University. First of all, it was my goal to participate in some type of undergraduate research opportunity, and I did exactly that. I worked in a lab that focuses on green chemistry, so this type of research supports my beliefs and helps me develop my green chem knowledge. There is more information about this experience in the Experiences > Green Chemistry Research page.
Another goal I set for myself while at UC involves finding some type of tutoring or teaching assistant position, because even though I am a chemical engineer, I have been told that I am an excellent tutor as well. I love seeing the positive results that hard work shared between me and another peer can bring about. In the fall semester of 2014 I began working as a TA with the engineering education department, and I have continued in this role since then. For more details about this experience, see the Experiences > Engineering Models TA tab.
That’s the basics about me. I’ll add more if I think of anything later, but I’ve covered most of the bases. You can learn more about me my visiting the other pages of this website, where I will upload information about my Honors Experiences and other related volunteer experiences.
Until then,
Alex

P.S. – You are probably wondering what ‘Carbo Telluris’ means. It is Latin, and translates to ‘Carbon Planet’.
